The letter ӣ can’t be in the middle of a word, so when the letter и is added to ғарбӣ (as in both of the sample sentences) the ӣ is changed to и.

Bonus:
НБО is the abbreviation for нерӯгоҳи барқи обӣ. The Russian abbreviation is ГЭС (for Гидроэлектростанция), and sometimes in Tajikistan people say the Russian abbreviation “гэс”, as a word, instead of saying нерӯгоҳи барқи обӣ.

Here water is used as an adjective which is why the letter ӣ is added to the end.

The ripening of pears, like apples, starts in June and lasts until October.

Bonus:
The first sentence could also be translated in the passive voice, which is not used much in Tajik.
“Thirteen kinds of pears are cultivated in Tajikistan.”
