In the world, the area of agricultural land doubled during the twentieth century.

Bonus:
Майдон can be used for a small, open piece of land, like a town square, or for a larger area of land.

мо

мо: we

Мо ба хонаи шумо омадем.
We came to your house.
Мо ба дунё чизе наовардаем, ва чизе аз он бурдан ҳам наметавонем.
We didn’t bring anything into the world, and we also can’t take anything out of it.

Bonus:
In Tajik the verb ending corresponds to the subject of the sentence. If мо is the subject, then the verb ending is -ем. Because of this, it is also acceptable to leave off the subject of the sentence. In the example below, we know that the subject is мо (we) because of the verb ending -ем.
Ба хонаи шумо омадем. We came to your house.

Note that мо can also mean our.
Шумо ба хонаи мо омадед. You came to our house.

расидан

расидан: to reach

Шумори аҳолии Тоҷикистон дар соли 2023 ба 10 миллион тан хоҳад расид.
The population count in Tajikistan will reach 10 million in the year 2023.
Қади шутурмурғҳо ба 2м 75см ва вазнашон то 80кг мерасад.
The height of an ostrich reaches 2m 75cm and its weight 80kg.

Bonus:
The verb расидан can also mean to arrive, to be enough, to touch. For sentences showing examples with the meaning of to arrive, see here –

Расидан is also a helper verb –
ба охир расидан: to reach the end
ба пирӣ расидан: to reach old age
ба гӯш расидан: to hear, to reach (one’s) ear

фарорасӣ

фарорасӣ: approach, coming

Аз самими қалб шуморо бо фарорасии Соли Нави 2019 табрик менамоем.
From the bottom of our hearts we congratulate you on the coming of the New Year 2019.
Бо фарорасии баҳор ҳама гумон доштанд, ки дигар то соли оянда барфро намебинанд.
With the approach of spring everybody thought that they wouldn’t see snow again until the next year.

фаро расидан: to approach, to draw near

фарорасии рӯзҳои гарм: the approach of warmer days (weather)
фарорасии шаб: the approach of night; nightfall

In both of these sentences, the word фарорасӣ is connected to the following word with the suffix “и” which shows a relationship between the two words, and can be translated “of” – фарорасии соли (the approach of the year), фарорасии баҳор (the approach of spring). The letter ӣ cannot occur in the middle of a word, so it is changed to и.

ангуштарин

ангуштарин: ring

Ангуштарини мардона аввал дар Мисри Қадим, баъд дар ҷойҳои дигар, аз ҷумла дар Тоҷикистон паҳн шуд.
Men’s rings were first in Ancient Egypt, and then spread to other places, such as Tajikistan.
Либоси беҳтарине оварда, ба ӯ пӯшонед, ва ангуштарин ба дасташ, ва пойафзол ба пойҳояш диҳед.
Bring the best clothes and put them on him, and give him a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet.

In Tajikistan people decorate trees for New Year’s in the same way people in some countries decorate trees for Christmas.

The compound word, солинавӣ, is formed from the words сол (year) and нав (new).

бахшидан

бахшидан: to forgive

Ва хоҷаи он ғулом, раҳмаш омада, вайро озод кард ва қарзашро ба вай бахшид. .
And the master of that slave had pity, released him, and forgave him his debt.
Агар бародарат рӯзе ҳафт бор зидди ту гуноҳ кунад ва рӯзе ҳафт бор баргашта, гӯяд: “Тавба кардам”, — ӯро бахш.
If your brother sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times comes back and says, “I repent”, – forgive him.

Synonym: авф кардан

The verb бахшидан also means to give, to give without getting anything in return, to present.
Ин кордро ба ту мебахшам. I give you this knife. I present to you this knife.

The verb бахшидан is also used as a helper verb and can be substituted for the verb додан
илҳом бахшидан, илҳом додан: to inspire, to give inspiration
нур бахшидан, нур додан: to illuminate, to give light
шифо бахшидан, шифо додан: to heal, to give healing

The stem of the verb, -бахш, can be combined with a noun to form an adjective.
илҳомбахш: inspiring
нурбахш: illuminating
шифобахш: healing

ғун кардан

ғун кардан: to gather, to accumulate

Дар рӯи замин барои худ ганҷҳо ғун накунед, ки дар ин ҷо куя ва занг мезанад.
Don’t gather treasures on earth, where moth and rust will destroy.
Сарватдор ҳастам, сарват ғун кардаам ва ба ҳеҷ чиз эҳтиёҷ надорам.
I am a rich man, I have accumulated wealth, and I don’t need anything.

Synonym: ҷамъ кардан

чиндан: to pick
ғунучин кардан: to harvest (pick and gather)

пул ғун кардан: to gather (save) money
таҷриба ғун кардан: to accumulate (gain) experience

алифбо

алифбо: alphabet

Алифбои забони тоҷикӣ аз сию панҷ ҳарф иборат аст.
The Tajik language alphabet is composed of thirty-five letters.
Калимаҳо дар луғатҳо аз рӯйи тартиби алифбо ҷойгир карда мешаванд.
The words in dictionaries are placed in order of the alphabet.

Bonus:
The word “alphabet” was formed from the first letter of the Arabic alphabet, alif, and бо (with).

Алифбо is also the name of the first textbook that Tajik children use in school to learn the alphabet.

алифбо навиштан: to write the alphabet
иди алифбо: alphabet celebration (when grade 1 students celebrate having learned the alphabet)

Табиат барои инсоният сарвати бебаҳо мебошад.
