кабуд

кабуд: blue

Модарам чашмони кабуд дорад.
My mother has blue eyes.
Осмон беабр ва кабуд буд.
The sky was cloudless and blue.

Bonus:
чойи кабуд: green tea
пиёзи кабуд: green onions
(Don’t get hung up on the fact that in these cases we would translate кабуд to mean green. It is better to learn language without always translating back to your native language anyway.)

кабудпӯш: somebody wearing blue clothes for mourning (blue is a mourning colour)

каб-кабуд: very blue
сап-сафед: very white
сип-сиёҳ: very black
суп-сурх: very red
заб-зард: very yellow

тағйирёбанда: changeable

Самт ва суръати бод тағйирёбанда аст.
The direction and the speed of the wind is changeable.
Обу ҳавои Тоҷикистон махсусан дар баҳорон тағйирёбанда аст.
The weather of Tajikistan is changeable especially in the spring.

дароз

дароз: long

Лаклак паррандаи калонҷусса аст ки, гардану по ва нӯли дароз дорад.
A stork is a large-bodied bird that has a long neck, legs and beak.
Калтакалос, сангпушт ва морҳо муддати дароз бе об зиста метавонанд.
Lizards, tortoises and snakes can live for a long time without water.

Opposite – кӯтоҳ: short

умри дароз: long life
дароз кашидан: to lie down, stretch out
нафаси дароз кашидан: to take a long (deep) breath
дароздум, думдароз: long-tailed
дарозмӯй, мӯйдароз: long-haired

Дароз can also mean “all … long” as in зимистони дароз (all winter long) and рӯзи дароз (all day long).

калонҷусса

калонҷусса: large-bodied

Фил ҳайвони калонҷусса аст.
An elephant is a large-bodied animal.
Гӯсфанди ҳисорӣ нисбат ба дигар гӯсфандон калонҷусса мебошад.
Hissar sheep are large-bodied compared to other sheep.

наздик

наздик: close, near

Идораи ман ба хонаамон наздик аст.
My office is close to our house.
Онҳо дӯстони наздик буданд.
They were close friends.

наздикон: relatives and close friends
дар ояандаи наздик: in the near future
наздикбин: short-sighted
наздик шудан: to get close (to someone or something)

ғайриимкон

ғайриимкон: impossible

Сохтани роҳ дар кӯҳҳо ниҳоят душвор, серхароҷот ва ҳатто дар баъзе ҷойҳо ғайриимкон аст.
Building roads in the mountains is extremely difficult, costly and even in some places impossible.
Барои Худо ҳеҷ чизи ғайриимкон нест.
For God nothing is impossible

Bonus:
имкон: possibility (noun)

The prefix ғаири means “without”, “outside” or “except for” so you can think of ғайриимкон as “without possibility”.

ғайримактабӣ: extra-curricular, outside of school
ғайрикорӣ: outside of work (or working hours)
ғайрикофӣ: not enough, insufficient
ғайримаҷбурӣ: without force, non-compulsory

салқин

салқин: cool

Бегоҳ ҳаво салқин мешавад ва дар водиҳо боди кӯҳӣ мевазад.
In the evening the weather is cool and in the valleys a mountain wind blows.
Саҳарии барвақт, пеш аз баромадани Офтоб ҳаво одатан салқин ва беабр аст.
In the early morning, before the sun comes up, the weather is usually cool and cloudless.

Mostly the weather is cloudy and rainy in winter, and the weather is dry and cloudless in summer.

The prefix бе means without. The translations of many Tajik words beginning with бе end with less in English.

хунук

хунук: cold

Фасли зимистон хунук аст.
The season of winter is cold. (Winter is cold.)
Онҳо бо ангишт оташ афрӯхта буданд, чунки ҳаво хунук буд, ва гирди он истода, худро гарм мекарданд.
They lit a coal fire because the weather was cold, and they stood around it and warmed themselves.
