I arrived at home.

When the time for Elizabeth to give birth arrived, she gave birth to a son.

This word can be used in a lot of contexts; people can arrive, letters can arrive, seasons can arrive, news can arrive etc. It can be translated “to reach” in certain situations, for example, you can reach (or arrive at) a certain age.

таваллуд ёфтан: to be born

Ман дар яке аз районҳои водии Вахш таваллуд ёфтам.

Садриддин Айнӣ 15 апрели соли 1878 дар деҳаи Соктареи вилояти Бухоро таваллуд ёфтааст.
Sadriddin Aini was born on the 15th of April 1878 in the village of Soktare in the district of Bukhara.

The word таваллуд (birth) is Arabic in origin. Notice the same three root consonants (в, л, д) as in волидайн (parents).

In the first sentence, even though осмон and замин are both direct objects only the last one takes the direct object marker ро. This is true any time there is a list of direct objects, or two direct objects connected by “and”.

Notice in both sentences places where in Tajik the singular is used but in English the plural is used.

This noun can also mean “to be raised” or “to be educated”  when talking about people. For example:
