мурғи марҷон: turkey

Мурғи марҷон дар асри XVI ба Аврупо ва баъдтар ба Тоҷикистон оварда шуд.
Turkeys were brought to Europe in the 16th century, and later brought to Tajikistan.
Мурғи марҷонро асосан барои гӯшт мепарваранд ва гӯшташ бомаза аст.
They raise turkey mainly for its meat and its meat is delicious.

The first sentence is in the singular, but in English the plural was a better translation. You could also translate it, “The turkey was brought…”.

Дар байни парандаҳо шутурмурғи африҳоӣ калонтарин мебошад.
Among birds, the African ostrich is the biggest.
Шутурмурғҳо гурӯҳ – гурӯҳ шуда зиндагӣ мекунанд, ва тухми растаниҳо, ҳашарот ва калтакалосҳоро мехӯранд
Ostriches live in groups and eat seeds, insects and lizards.

The vulture lays one egg at the end of March or beginning of April.

Бум дар шаб ба шикор мебарояд.
The owl comes out at night to hunt.
Паррандаҳои соҳибчангол, масалан, бум шабона бисёр хуб мебинад.
Birds with claws, for example the owl, can see very well at night.

One can come across a partridge in almost all the mountains of Tajikistan.

In Tajik there are a lot of great words for sounds of things. Onomatopoeia is the formation of a word from a sound. In Tajik those are called калимаҳои тақлидӣ. The word тақлид means imitation or mimicry. Here are a few examples. This would be a fun thing to have a conversation about, so if you know of others please write them in the comments.

Дар олам ҳабдаҳ намуди лаклакҳо мавҷуданд. Дар Тоҷикистон ду намуд – лаклакҳои сафед ва сиёҳ зиндагӣ мекунанд.
In the world there are seventeen types of stork. In Tajikistan two types of stork live – white storks and black storks.
Лаклаки сиёҳ нисбат ба лаклаки сафед хурдтар аст.
The black stork compared to the white stork is smaller.

булбул: nightingale

Марям булбул барин месарояд.
Mariam sings like a nightingale.
Булбул паррандаи хурдакаки зебо ва хушовоз мебошад.
A nightingale is a small, beautiful and sweet-singing bird.

Боғи ӯ ҳамеша пур аз парандагони рангоранг ва хушовоз буд. 
His garden was always full of colourful and sweet-voiced birds.
Парасту парандаи тезпар аст. Дар як соат то 200 километр парвоз мекунад.
A swallow is a fast-flying bird. In one hour it can fly up to 200 kilometres.

According to the Tajik dictionary (Фарҳанги Забони Тоҷикӣ) both паранда and парранда are correct spellings of this word.
