овоз

овоз: voice

Дар бемористон бо овози баланд гап намезананд.
One should not talk with a loud voice in the hospital.
Гӯсфандон аз паси чӯпон мераванд, чунки овозашро мешиносанд.
The sheep follow the shepherd because they recognize his voice.

The first sentence uses third person plural, which is more common than using the passive voice. You could also translate it as, “They don’t speak with a loud voice in the hospital”.

нӯшидан

нӯшидан: to drink

Ҳар субҳ як истакон оби ширгарм бо лиму менӯшам.
Every morning I drink one glass of lukewarm water with lemon.
Ҳатто мегӯянд, ки агар ба Душанбе омада, дар Чойхонаи «Роҳат» ғизои тоҷикӣ ва чойи кабуд нанӯшед, пас шумо Душанберо надидед.
They even say that if you come to Dushanbe and don’t eat Tajik food and drink green tea at the Rohat Teahouse then you haven’t seen Dushanbe.

The suffix -нӯшӣ also means drinking, as in:
қаҳванӯшӣ: coffee-drinking

баҳрнавард

баҳрнавард: mariner, seafarer

Навард is used in compound words and has the meaning of “traveller”.

In written material the plural ending -он is more common than -ҳо. The plural ending -он is only used for animate objects (living things), although there are also some exceptions.

сутунмӯҳрадор

Most vertebrates have pairs of wings and legs.

The suffix дор is from the verb доштан, to have. It is a very common suffix. Here are a few more examples:

болдор: winged, with wings

чахрдор: wheeled, having wheels
хордор: thorny, having thorns

Саидалӣ, бародари хурдии ман, табиатро бисёр дӯст медорад.
Saidali, my little brother, loves nature a lot.
Дар табиат зиёда аз ду миллиён намуди растанӣ ва ҳайвонот мавҷуд аст.
More than two million types of plants and animals exist in nature.

This word can also be used in compound words to describe the nature of a person.
хуштабиат: good-natured
дағалтабиат: ill-natured, rude

ширгарм

ширгарм: lukewarm

Биринҷро дар оби ширгарм тар мекунем.
We soak the rice in lukewarm water.
Аз чойник як пиёла чойи ширгарм кашида, ба ӯ дароз кардам.
I poured a cup of lukewarm tea from the teapot, and passed it to him.

Ширгарм is the temperature of fresh milk.
