шарқӣ: eastern

Иқлими Помири шарқӣ хунук ва хушк аст.
The climate in the eastern Pamirs is cold and dry.
Айвони Сулаймон, ки дар девори шарқӣ буд, 250 метр дарозӣ дошт.
Solomon’s Porch, which was on the eastern side, had a length of 250 metres.

Add ӣ to make an adjective:
шимолӣ: northern

ҷанубӣ: southern
ғарбӣ: western

ҷануби шарқ

ҷануби шарқ: south-east

Малайзия дар ҷануби шарқи Осиё ҷойгир аст.
Malaysia is located in south-east Asia.
Ҷануби шарқи Камчатка ноҳияи аз ҳама сербарфи Осиё мебошад.
South-east Kamchatka is the snowiest region in Asia.

зеботарин

зеботарин: most beautiful, prettiest

Шаҳри Рио-де-Жанейро яке аз шаҳрҳои зеботарини дунё аст.
The city of Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Шаршараи Игуасу яке аз зеботарин шаршароҳои рӯйи Замин аст.
The Iguazu Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the face of the earth.

Bonus:
These sentences are very similar, but notice that you can put the adjective either before or after the noun.

зебо: beautiful, pretty
зеботар: more beautiful, prettier
зеботарин: most beautiful, prettiest

Other words with the suffix тарин –
чуқуртарин: deepest
қадимтарин: oldest, most ancient
муҳимтарин: most important
бузургтарин: greatest

маъмурӣ

маъмурӣ: administrative

Хонаҳои серошёна, толорҳо, театрҳо, биноҳои маъмуриву фарҳангӣ ҳамон солҳо сохта шудаанд.
Multi-storey homes, halls, theatres, and administrative and cultural buildings were built during those years.
Шаҳр дорои чор ноҳияи маъмурӣ: Шоҳмансур, Исмоили Сомонӣ, Фирдавсӣ ва Сино мебошад.
The city has four administrative districts: Shohmansur, Ismail Somoni, Firdavsi and Sino.

Bonus:
Adding the letter ӣ to a noun can change it into an adjective.
маъмур: administrator
маъмурӣ: administrative

бинои маъмурӣ: administrative building
маркази маъмурӣ: administrative centre
шӯъбаи маъмурӣ: administrative department
корҳои маъмурӣ: administrative work, administrative jobs

зард

зард: yellow

Лимӯ ва банан ранги зард дорад.
Lemons and bananas are yellow.
Меваи помидор дар аввал сабз буда, дар вақти пухтанаш (вобаста ба навъҳояш) ранги сурх, норинҷӣ ва зард ба худ мегирад.
The fruit of the tomato is at first green, and when it ripens (according to its kind) it takes on a red, orange or yellow colour.

Bonus:
Synonym: лимӯранг

In Tajik when saying the colour of something you usually use the verb “to have”, as you can see in the first sentence. We could translate that sentence, “Bananas and lemons have a yellow colour”.

зарди тухм: egg yolk, the yellow of the egg
зарди тиллоранг: golden yellow
зардолу: apricot

Tajik has some fun colour words:
каб-кабуд: very blue
сап-сафед: very white
сип-сиёҳ: very black
суп-сурх: very red
заб-зард: very yellow

дур

дур: far

Хонаи ман аз ин ҷо дур нест.
My home is not far from here.
Онҳо аз шаҳр хеле дур рафтанд.
They went very far from the city.

Bonus:
Opposite: наздик (near)

аз дур: from afar
аз роҳи дур омадан: to come from a long way away
Шарқи Дур: Far East
дурбин: far-sighted
дуру наздик: far and near

охирин

охирин: last, final

Охирин амири Бухоро (Амир Олимхон) дар Душанбе зистааст ва баъдан гурехта, ба Афғонистон рафтааст.
The last Amir of Bukhara (Amir Olimhon) lived in Dushanbe and later fled and went to Afghanistan.
Бисёре ки аввалин ҳастанд, охирин мешаванд, ва охиринҳо – аввалин.
Many who are first will be last, and the last (will be) first.

Bonus:
Opposite: аввалин (first)

рӯзҳои охирин: the last days
сухани охирин: the final word, the last word
нафаси охирин: final breath, last breath
хабарҳои охирин: the latest news

You can also put “охирин” before the noun – охирин рӯзҳо, охирин сухат, охирин нафас etc.

бузургтарин

бузургтарин: largest, greatest

Бузургтарин дарёҳои Тоҷикистон дарёи Омӯ ва Сир мебошанд.
The largest rivers in Tajikistan are the Amu Darya and the Syr Darya.
Соли 2011 дар Душанбе бузургтарин дар Осиёи Марказӣ Китобхонаи миллии Тоҷикистон бунёд карданд.
In the year 2011 the national library of Tajikistan, the largest in Central Asia, was built.

сунъӣ

сунъӣ: artificial, man-made

Дар Майдони Парчами давлатии Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон, кӯли сунъӣ ҷой дорад.
In the Flag Square of (the country of) Tajikistan there is a man-made lake.
Матоъро аз нахҳои табиӣ ва сунъӣ ҳосил мекунанд.
Fabric is produced from natural and artificial fibers.

гули сунъӣ: artificial flower
табассуми сунъӣ: artificial smile
шаршараи сунъӣ: man-made waterfall
дандонҳои сунъӣ: false teeth

таърихӣ

таърихӣ: historical

Дар ду ошёнаи осорхона нигораҳои таърихӣ ҷой гирифтаанд.
On two floors of the museum historical artifacts are located.
Чойхонаи «Роҳат» яке аз биноҳои таърихии шаҳр ба ҳисоб меравад.
The “Rohat” Tea House is considered to be one of the historical buildings of the city.

Bonus:
таърих: history

To change the noun into an adjective, add the letter ӣ.
таърих > таърихӣ

The letter ӣ can not occur in the middle of the word. Notice in the second sentence the ӣ has been changed to a и.

романи таърихӣ: historical novel
аҳамияти таърихӣ: historical importance
одами таърихӣ: historical figure (person)
бинои таърихӣ: historical building
