Every year more than 35 million tourists come to Italy.
Дар ИМА 50 парки миллӣ мавҷуд аст, ки онҳоро соле бештар аз 30 миллион сайёҳон тамошо мекунанд.
In the USA there are 50 national parks that more than 30 million tourists visit in a year.

In Tajikistan the Russian loan word, турист, is still commonly used.

Одам сеяки умрашро дар хоб мегузаронад.
Man spends a third of his life asleep.
Уқёнуси Ором сеяки сатҳи Замин ишғол мекунад.
The Pacific Ocean occupies one third of the surface of Earth.

Bonus:
To say fractions –
аз + denominator + numerator
for example,
2/5, two fifths: аз панҷ ду
3/5, three fifths: аз панҷ се

When the numerator is 1 then the word аз is dropped and the denominator and numerator (1) are joined in one word, for example,
1/3, one third: сеяк
1/4, one quarter: чоряк
1/6, one sixth: шашяк
1/10, one tenth: даҳяк
1/100, one one-hundredth: садяк

қурбоққа

қурбоққа: frog

Мори обӣ моҳиҳо ва қурбоққаҳоро мехӯрад.
A water snakes eats fish and frogs.
Дар биёбонҳо қурбоққа фақат шаб ба ҷустуҷӯи ғизо мебарояд.
In the deserts a frog only goes out to look for food at night.

Bonus:
As in the first sentence, when you have two or more direct objects connected by “and” the object marker -ро only goes on the last one in the list.

мори обӣ

мори обӣ: water snake

Мори обӣ мори безаҳр аст.
A water snake is a non-poisonous snake.
Мори обӣ дар соҳилҳои дарёҳо, чашмаҳо ва кӯлҳо зиндагӣ мекунад.
Water snakes live on the shores (edges) of rivers, springs and lakes.

Bonus:
Adding the suffix ӣ to a noun changes it to an adjective.
об: water (noun)
обӣ: water (adj.)

Notice that the second sentence is singular in Tajik (a water snake lives…), but in English it sounds more normal in the plural (water snakes live).

Opposite of безаҳр (non-poisonous) is заҳрнок (poisonous).

шаб: night

Мо шаб меравем.
We will go at night.
Шаб чунон торик буд, ки каси рӯ ба ҳам омада ҳамдигарро шинохта наметавонист.
It was so dark at night that a person coming face to face with another couldn’t recognize each other.

ганҷ

ганҷ: treasure

Ҳар ҷо, ки ганҷи шумост, дили шумо низ дар он ҷо мешавад.
Wherever your treasure is, your heart will also be there.
Забон калидест, ки дари ганҷи донишро боз мекунад.
Language is the key that opens the door of the treasure of knowledge.

Bonus:
ганҷков: treasure seeker
ганҷёб: treasure finder
ганҷина: treasury, place where treasure is kept

кон: mine

Рӯзи якшанбе барои табобат ба кони намак омаданд.
On Sunday they came to the salt mine for treatment.
Австралия бо конҳои тило машҳур аст.
Australia is known for its gold mines.

Bonus:
Тило can also be spelled тилло.

кандан: to mine

кони ангишт: coal mine

кӯча

кӯча: street

Идораи мо дар кӯчаи Мирзо Турсунзода ҷойгир аст.
Our office is located on Mirzo Tursonzoda Street.
Ман ҳеҷ гоҳ ин хел иморатҳои баланди зебо, ин хел кӯчаҳои серодамро надида будам.
I had never seen such tall beautiful buildings and such crowded streets.

Bonus:
серодам: full of people, crowded

ба кӯча баромадан: to go outside
дар кӯча мондан: to become homeless

Add the suffix гӣ to make this word, кӯча, an adjective –
гапи кӯчагӣ: street talk
чароғҳои кӯчагӣ: street lamps

бозича

бозича: toy

Ман барои писарам бозича харидам.
I bought a toy for my son.
Мо дар қуттии калон бозичаҳои бисёр доштем.
We had lots of toys in a big box.

Bonus:
бозичафурӯш: toy seller
бозичафурӯшӣ: toy selling
бозӣ: game
бозӣ кардан: to play

This word is also used for Christmas ornaments that are hung on a Christmas tree (or New Year’s tree).

девор

девор: wall

Дар девор харитаи осмон овехтам.
I hung a map of the sky on the wall.
Вай савора омада, дар сояи девори баланде қарор гифифт.
He rode up, and rested in the shade of a tall wall.

There are several verbs for “to build a wall” – девор сохтан, девор кашидан, девор задан, девор кардан

To make wall into an adjective, add the suffix ӣ.
соати деворӣ: wall clock

Tajik saying:
Девор муш дорад, муш гӯш дорад.
Walls have mice, mice have ears.
It means, be careful when telling a secret because you don’t know who might be listening.
