чиз: thing

Ғайр аз ин чизи дигар надорам.
Apart from this I don’t have another thing.
Аммо ҳоло ин се чиз боқӣ мемонад: имон, умед, муҳаббат; вале муҳаббат калонтарини онҳост.
But these three things remain: faith, hope, love; but love is the greatest of these.

Bonus:
In Tajik when a plural noun follows a number it doesn’t take the plural ending, as in се чиз.

киштӣ

киштӣ: ship, boat

Киштии нав ба баҳр сар дода шуд.
The new ship was set afloat on the sea.
Баъди чанд соли кашфи Амрико, киштиҳои Васко да Гама Африкоро давр зада, ба Ҳиндустон расиданд.
Several years after the discovery of America, the ships of Vasco da Gama went around Africa and arrived at India.

Bonus:
If a word that ends in ӣ has a suffix attached to it then the ӣ is changed to an и, as in киштиҳо and киштии нав.

дарёча

дарёча: stream

Дар деҳаи Тавилдара дарёчаи шӯху тезҷараёне ҷорӣ мешавад.
In the village of Tavildara an lively, fast-flowing stream flows.
Аз миёни оби шаффофи кабуди дарёча сангҳои нӯгтезу калон-калон намоёнанд.
From the midst of the water of the clear, blue stream huge sharp rocks are visible.

Bonus:
The suffix ча means “little”. So дарёча can also be translated as “little river”.

минтақа: region, area, zone

Минтақаи Узбекистон аз Тоҷикистон калонтар аст.
The area of Uzbekistan is larger than the area of Tajikistan.

дониш: knowledge

калмурғ: vulture

The vulture builds its next on the top of high trees.
Калмурғ охири март – аввали апрел як тухм мегузорад.
The vulture lays one egg at the end of March or beginning of April.

сирк: circus

Гурӯҳи ҳунарии сирки Тошканд ба Душанбе омад.
The skillful circus group of Tashkent came to Dushanbe.
Сирки Тошканд аз 31-уми декабр то 31-уми январ дар толори Сирки давлатии Душанбе баргузор мешавад.
The Tashkent circus will take place from 31st of December to 31st of January in the Dushanbe’s circus hall.

Bonus:
In the days of the USSR the Russian word for circus, цирк, was more common in Tajikistan, but Tajiks are now more likely to use сирк. The tripadvisor website has some before and after pictures of the name change on the circus building: State Tajikistan Circus.

Ба боғи дигар кас бе иҷозат даромадан мумкин нест.
One is not allowed to go into another person’s garden without permission.
Бо иҷозати падарам дар донишгоҳ мехонам.
With my father’s permission I study at the university.
